Terrence Holder

Terrence Holder ( * 1898 in Muskogee (Oklahoma ), date of death unknown ) was an American jazz trumpeter, who led the Dark Clouds of Joy and more territory bands.

Life and work

Holder initially joined on in his hometown with Ida Cox before the band joined by Alphonse Trent, where he worked as Leittrompeter and managers. He was regarded as a talented soloist with an open tone. He had to leave the band because he had betrayed the musicians to a portion of the revenue. He then in 1925 founded his own ensemble, the Dark Clouds of Joy, with whom he successfully occurred in and around Kansas City and in Texas and made an important contribution to the Kansas City jazz. 1929, the musicians of the band chose a new band leader because Holder had disappeared with the cash register. He formed a new band with Jesse Stone, who was also active in the Midwest, but also had this band soon leave due to financial disagreements. In later Bands Musicians like Buddy Tate, Budd Johnson and Claude Williamson worked. In the 1940s, he belonged to the band of Nat Towles. Then he worked in a copper mine in Billings ( Montana).
