Terry Griffiths

Terry Griffiths, OBE ( born October 16, 1947 in Llanelli) is a Welsh snooker player and Officer of the Order of the British Empire.

Career

After a distinguished career as an amateur Griffiths won the 1979 World Snooker Championship final against Dennis Taylor. It was only his second professional tournament, and he was the first unseeded player who became world champion. This feat repeated only Shaun Murphy in 2005.

Its highest ranking in the snooker world ranking was No. 3 in the 1981 season / 82nd Griffiths won in his professional career including the Masters (1980 ), the Classic ( 1982), and three times in Irish Masters, Welsh Professional Championship and Pontins Professional Championship. However, since all these tournaments had no world ranking status, the World Cup victory in his only victory remained with a world ranking tournament.

1992 and 1994, Griffiths was Trick Shot champion.

Today Griffiths has worked as a commentator for the BBC, before he was the coach of Stephen Hendry and Mark Williams.
