Terry Hall (singer)

Terry Hall ( born March 19, 1959 in Coventry, England ) is a British pop singer. Hall became famous as the frontman of the British ska band The Specials. Later he also sang at Fun Boy Three, The Colourfield, Vegas and as a solo artist. He has played also, among other things with the Lightning Seeds, Gorillaz, Tricky and the Ordinary Boys. He is currently member of the band to hear the Dub Pistols and on the plate Speakers And Tweaters.

As lead singer of the Specials Hall coined by the English youth culture of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Together with the Specials Jerry Dammers wrote organist Hall hymn-like songs in which punk and ska combined, including Little Bitch, Nite Klub, Concrete Jungle, and gangster. He was one of the leaders of the anti-racist Two-Tone movement that was popular in Germany in the 1980s. Hall was one of the specials until 1981.

After that, he and two other ex- Specials, Lynval Golding and Neville Staples the Fun Boy Three, 1982 through collaboration with Bananarama on the song It is not what you do (it's the way did you do it ) and the top Ten singles the Tunnel of Love and Our Lips Are Sealed in the following year caused a stir. Latter song composed Hall together with Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go's, who in 1981 also interprets it.

1983 Hall appeared in The Colour Field, an even shorter-lived project. In 1995, Terry Hall released his first solo album. In addition, several best-of albums were released.

For 30 - year band anniversary in 2009 there was a reunion of the ideas, but without Jerry Dammers. The band gave numerous concerts in England and played at festivals throughout Europe. 2011 was followed by an extensive European tour.
