Terry O'Flaherty

Terry O'Flaherty is an Irish politician, former member of the Progressive Democrats, and since 1999 a member of the City Council of Galway.

Terry O'Flaherty was elected in 1999 to the City Council of Galway (Galway City Council ) and thus took over the seat of their mother Bridie O'Flaherty, a politician who had been 25 years in Galway City Council up to this point. During her first term, Terry O'Flaherty from June 2003 until June 2004 the Mayor of Galway. This office had before her 1980-1981 and 1985-1986 twice her mother held. The two are thus was the first mother-daughter pair in the office of mayor.

2004 and 2009 Terry O'Flaherty was re-elected to the City Council. With the latter choice they had a candidate as independents because it was leaked in October 2008 from the Progressive Democrats. In June 2012, she was again Mayor of Galway. She is a descendant of the O'Flaherty clan of Connemara dominated until the 17th century.
