Terry Trotter

Terry William Trotter ( born May 10, 1940 in Los Angeles ) is an American jazz and studio musician ( piano and vocals). He lives in Los Angeles.

Life and work

He says that he grew up in Glendale, a place in California. His mother was a pianist; his sister is the opera singer Linda Trotter. He received piano lessons from the age of five. In 1955, he played professionally, first with Charles Lloyd and Don Cherry. Then he worked with Bobby Hutcherson, the Lighthouse All-Stars, Lena Horne and Joe Pass. Between 1968 and 1973 he accompanied Chet Baker; until the 1980s, he belonged to the band of Charlie Shoemake, from 1984 to the Larry Carlton.

He has recorded with artists such as plates, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Natalie Cole, Celine, producer David Foster and many others.

Trotter is the wider audience with the theme music of the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond known.

He also played one of her own albums such as It's about Time from 1993, where he performed as a pianist not only in appearance but also even sang some pieces, such as in 1999 for the album Sondheim Collection. In 2010 he published jointly with Chuck Berghofer and Peter Erskine Jazz Album Live @ Charlie O's.
