Tesla (company)

TESLA (from Technika SLAboproudá, German about: low-voltage technology, but probably also in terms of Nikola Tesla ) was a large state-owned network of electronics producers in Czechoslovakia and is now a trademark and part of their name today existing enterprises in Slovakia and Czech Republic.

The company was founded as " Elektra " on 18 January 1921 and renamed " TESLA " on March 7, 1946. Between 1932 and 1945 it was part of Philips. After the Second World War it became a state-owned group of electronics companies, which primarily supplied the Eastern Bloc under the name TESLA among others in the fields of radio and radar technology. Non- Socialist countries for exports were, for example, Syria and Egypt.

The product range of TESLA included not only systems and large appliances for example, electronic components, speakers, phones, devices known as consumer electronics ( consumer electronics) such as radios, tape recorders and televisions.

In German-speaking TESLA products were almost exclusively known in the GDR, as they were often not competitive on the world market. In the area of the CMEA, however TESLA had a monopoly on some products.
