Teslin Lake

The Teslin Lake ( Teslin = English for Indian word Teslintoo " long, deep water ") is a high mountain lake in Canada ( North America).

Geography

The lake is located in western Canada in the transition region of British Columbia Interior (south-east of the lake located ) and the Yukon River Inter- Mountain Ranges. The Teslin Lake extends in the north part, which is located in the Yukon, in NW-SE direction while, which is located in the southern part of British Columbia, has a NNW-SSE orientation. The very elongated but fairly narrow valley of Teslin Lake is located in a wooded mountain scenery.

The light propagating in the southeast-northwest direction standing water, which is deeply about 700 m and is located at 683 m above sea level, 144 km long and an average of only 3.2 km wide; in this direction it is traversed by the Teslin River. In its largest and quite elongated east arm (also called Nisutlin Bay ) flows him to the Nisutlin River. At the point where this arm comes across the main part of the lake at Teslin, leads the 584 m long Stahlbogenbücke of Highway 1 in southeast-northwest direction over the eastern arm.

The water of all the rivers that feed the Teslin Lake, leaves the lake at its northern end, together with the Teslin River, which feeds the lake in the southeast and this drains the northwest, around 190 km to the northwest at Hootalinqua ( indian = " confluence of two major rivers " ) to flow into the Yukon River.
