Tessa Worley

Tessa Worley (* October 4, 1989 in Annemasse ) is a French alpine skier. She specializes in the disciplines of giant slalom and slalom. My biggest success so far is the giant slalom world title 2013.

Biography

Worley is the daughter of a French mother and an Australian. Your first few years were spent alternately in France and New Zealand (within the winter). When she was seven years old, she joined the ski club at Le Grand -Bornand. Your athletic career began in November 2004 with inserts in FIS races and European Cup races. In 2005 she was a participant of the European Youth Olympic Festival in Monthey, where a fifth-place finish in the giant slalom their best result was. After winning in January 2006 for the first time a FIS race, she denied on February 4, 2006 in Ofterschwang her first World Cup race and drove in the giant slalom at No. 29

First Notable successes celebrated Worley in March 2007 at the Junior World Cup in Flachau, as they finished ninth in the giant slalom. At the French Championships in Val d'Isere in the same month they finished third in the giant slalom and fifth in the Super -G. To kick off the 2007/08 season Worley surprised at their fourth World Cup competition with a fifth place in the giant slalom in Soelden. This result confirmed it with several other top -20 results. At the Junior World Championship 2008 in Formigal she won the giant slalom bronze medal. They also won the end of the season their first French league title.

Surprisingly won Worley 29 November 2008 the giant slalom in Aspen American her first World Cup race. In the course of the World Cup season 2008/ 09 they had trouble to build on this success and only scored another top 10 ranking. At the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isere, she was in the giant slalom as the best French Seventh. The second World Cup victory celebrated Worley on 12 December 2009 at the giant slalom at Åre. However, she managed not like last year, constant retract good results. This victory was in the 2009/10 season also their only Top 10 finish. At the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010, she came in the giant slalom course not beyond 16.

Worley was able to finally establish a world leader in the season 2010/11. On November 27, 2010, she won her third World Cup races, the giant slalom in Aspen. The victories of four and five followed in December 2010 at the giant slalom in St. Moritz and Semmering. In the Alpine World Ski Championships 2011 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen she won the bronze medal in the giant slalom and the gold medal in the team competition. At the end of the season, in which she was also increasingly competed in slalom and super - G, she finished second in the giant slalom competition, two place.

Worley also included in the 2011/12 season the most successful giant slalom skiers. She won two more races in Kranjska Gora and Soldeu. But as she had also recorded two failures, this was only the third place in the discipline standings. In December 2012, she succeeded in St. Moritz the first top- 10 ranking in a super -G, her best downhill result she succeeded in March 2013 with a 12th place at the World Cup finals in Schladming. While Worley drove in the 2012/13 season in giant slalom once on the second and three times on the third place, but it was before the World Cup 2013 in Schladming not to the closer circle of favorites. There she won the giant slalom World Cup title with fastest time in both runs.

On December 15, 2013 Worley was the eighth overall victory celebration in St. Moritz in a World Cup giant slalom. Two days later she fell in slalom in Courchevel hard and pulled it a torn ACL and meniscus damage in his right knee. It thus turns out for the remainder of 2013/14 season.
