Testacella scutulum

The Yellow backpack worm ( Testacella scutulum ) is a species of the genus backpack snails ( Testacella ) from the subordination of terrestrial snails ( gastropod ).

Description

The outstretched eight to twelve inches measured animal is alive usually colored yellow and wearing black or brown spots.

The lateral furrows begin together at a visible point on the anterior edge of the mantle.

The bowl is small and flat, six to seven millimeters long and four millimeters wide. It has an almost triangular shape and is flattened at the top, sometimes concave. The upper end of the central spindle of the snail shell ( columella ) is being supported sharp. The periostracum is thicker and less abraded than in the gray backpack Yellow Snail ( Testacella haliotidea ).

Occurrence

It comes in western France, England, Ireland and Spain, Croatia, Italy, Sicily and the Canary Islands off especially in gardens and parks. The Yellow backpack screw holding during the day at depths of ten to thirty centimeters in the earth, and the evening comes to the surface.
