Tete Montoliu

Tete Montoliu ( born March 28, 1933, Barcelona as Vicenç Montoliu i Massana, † August 24, 1997 same place ) was a Spanish jazz pianist.

Montoliu, who was blind from birth, was interested in as a child for jazz. After his piano studies in 1947 he played with Don Byas, who introduced him to the Bebop. He made recordings with musicians in the range between Lionel Hampton, with whom he toured Spain and France (1956 ) Rahsaan Roland Kirk (1963 ), Anthony Braxton (1974) and the flamenco singer Mayte Martín (1996). Regularly engaged Ben Webster and Dexter Gordon pianist. In addition, he played a duet with Chick Corea and with saxophonist George Coleman, who had been internationally recognized at the criticism.
