Tethra

Tethra [' t ʴ eθra ] was in Celtic mythology of Ireland, a king of the Fomorians, called the "father of Fomori " and after his death, ruler of the mythical island of Reich Mag Mell. He was the uncle Forgall Manachs, the father of Cú Chulainn 's wife Emer.

Etymology and Mythology

The name probably comes from the Proto Tethra - Indo-European word * tet ( e) ro ( " quakendes, chattering noise ", a synonym for water, especially the sea ). Because of this sea - name, it is often equated with Manannan mac Lir. The fish of the sea were called " Tethras herds ".
