Tetseo Sisters

The Tetseo Sisters are an existing four sisters singing quartet from the Indian state of Nagaland, which is devoted to the care of native vocal folk music.

Life and work

The Tetseo sisters Mercy, Azi, Kuvelü and Alüne live in the nagamesischen capital Kohima and are members of the Chakhesang, one of the major Naga tribes. They speak and sing in Chokri dialect of the area around Phek .. Already from an early age they were made by their parents with Li, the traditional songs of their home, familiar. They went public early on, so from 2000 regularly at the annual cultural festival Nagaland, the Hornbill Festival. With growing awareness, they expanded their radius by appearances in other places Nagaland, Northeast India, New Delhi and other states of the Indian Union. While the two older sisters Mercy and Azi studied, were the Tetseos on as a duo, the elderly in New Delhi, the younger in Kohima. Again and again, the sisters were able to show their art in the context of official events as representatives of the state, including in 2008 at the North East Trade Opportunities Summit in Bangkok, Thailand and again in Bangkok during the handshake concert in 2012.

2013, the Tetseo Sisters involved with other artists under the auspices of Alobo Naga on the video "My vote makes my future ", with the Election Commission of India promoted among young voters for participation in the elections to the Assembly of Delegates Nagaland.

On the occasion of the Hornbill Festival 2011 Tetseos released their first CD entitled "Li: Chapter One: The Beginning".

Li

The Chakhesang have kutiko over a 223 songs traditional songs comprehensive book that kukre Li. Other songs have been handed down orally in the villages of the region. Among the Li include songs for special occasions, love songs, children's songs, laments, war chants and songs that are associated with the annual cycle and agriculture. In addition to their complexity, they serve to strengthen the group consciousness.

The Tetseo Sisters make use of the rich treasure of traditional songs. Accompany some of their pieces on the one-stringed lute Tati or Heka Libuh.

Personal

Mütsevelü ( Mercy ) Tetseo has a degree in Psychology from the University of Delhi, but is dedicated to present her musical career. Azines ( Azi ) Tetseo is married and the mother of a son. She took part in beauty contests, among other things, was runner-up Miss Nagaland, and has a degree in Political Science from the University of Delhi. They remodeled, also sings in other formations and is also engaged in an entrepreneurial manner with her husband in the fashion industry. Kuvelü ( Kuku ) Tetseo attended Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi and is still studying in Kohima. Alüne ( Lulu ) Tetseo is the youngest of four sisters and has recently finished school.
