Tettau (Brandenburg)

Tettau is a municipality in the district of Upper Spreewald -Lausitz in southern Brandenburg and part of the office outskirts.

Geography

Tettau located in Upper Lusatia east on the border with Schraden. The place is situated on the western border of the district. North flows the Schwarze Elster and the south Pulsnitz.

The city is bordered to the north by Lauchhammer Tettau the east, the town Ruhland and the place woman village with the Gentile houses. To the south lie Lindenau and outskirts. West Tettaus begins the Elbe-Elster district with the community Schraden

History

History

Tettau was first mentioned in 1220, is mentioned in a document as the witness Lupoldus de Tettowe. The name of the scale as a street village location can be interpreted as Auort, the village was in the forefront of Upper Lusatia and corner posts was against mosquito mountain (now part of Lauchhammer ). The name evolved from Tetthaw 1451 on Tetaw 1455 and 1499 Tettaw to Tetten in 1590 and Tettau 1604.

From 1370 Tettau one of the countries of the crown of Bohemia. As of 1530, the town was the parish to Lindenau. 1611 was a Vorwerk of the manor Ruhland and in 1679 the village belonged to the manor Lindenau. In 1802, the mansion burned down in Tettau. In the early modern era the Tettauer began to make the humid lowlands of the adjacent Schradens reclaimed by the system of trenches. Culture and sights

In the summer a music festival takes place in Tettau hosted by the shawm orchestra.

Tettau in drinking water protection area. In the village there is a water supply plant. It was one of the largest in the GDR. Today it is the largest hydroelectric plant in Brandenburg.

Personalities

The business economist Heinrich Nicklisch was born on 19 July 1866 in Tettau. 133 years later a bronze plaque for Nicklisch was inaugurated in the presence of his grandchildren on July 19, 2009 at his birthplace.
