Tetyushi

Tetjuschi (Russian Тетюши; Tatar Тәтеш / Təteş ) is a city in the Republic of Tatarstan (Russia) with 11,596 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located about 180 km south of the Republic capital Kazan on the right, steep banks of the Kuibyshev Reservoir here to pent Volga.

Tetjuschi is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

The nearest railway station is located at 45 kilometers west Buinsk located on the track ( Kazan ) Swijaschsk - Ulyanovsk- Saratov - Sysran ( station Bua ).

History

The village was founded in 1574-1578 ( according to other data already from 1555 to 1557 ) as a sentry Tetjuschskaja Sastawa, presumably named after a Tatar feudal lords.

In 1781 the municipal law as an administrative center of a circle ( Ujesds ) was awarded under the present name. By the end of the 19th century, the city developed mainly as a trading center.

Culture and sights

( Собор Казанской Божией Матери / Sobor Kasanskoi Boschijei material; originally Trinity Cathedral ) in Tetjuschi the Cathedral of the Icon of Our Lady of Kazan is 1773 obtained. The town also has a local history museum.

Economy

Besides a number of companies in the food industry, there are in Tetjuschi a supplier plant for the helicopter factory Kazan as well as companies in the woodworking and the construction industry.
