Teucrium fruticans is a species of the genus germander ( Teucrium ) in the mint family ( Lamiaceae).

Description

Teucrium fruticans is an evergreen shrub with a height of up to 2.5 m. The branches are hairy square and white tomentose. The leaves are lanceolate to ovate, entire, flat, and short-stalked. The bottom is hairy white or reddish tomentose, the upper surface is hairy sparsely tomentose and often verkahlt and is shiny.

The inflorescence consists of Scheinquirlen of two flowers that sit in the armpit leaves leaf -like bracts. The calyx is short bell-shaped, hairy on the outside and whitish tomentose glabrous on the inside. The crown is 15 to 25 mm long and blue or purple colored. The stamens protrude far beyond from the crown.

Occurrence

The species is widespread in the western Mediterranean and is also found in Portugal and the Adriatic islands of Dalmatia. It grows in dry, sunny locations.
