Teun de Nooijer

Teun Floris de Nooijer ( born March 22, 1976 in Egmond aan den Hoef ) is a Dutch hockey player with the Dutch national hockey team of the Netherlands won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in 1996 and 2000. His debut in the national team was Teun de Nooijer on June 4, 1994 during a friendly match against New Zealand. Since then he has played more than 400 games for the Netherlands.

De Nooijer plays for Dutch club HC Bloemendaal (formerly with Christopher Zeller ) in the Hoofdklasse. Before that he was for the Dutch club AMHC Alkmaar and for the Bundesliga Harvestehuder THC.

In the final, the field hockey World Championship for Men 1998, he scored the golden goal in the final against Spain and became world champion. Teun de Nooijer was 2003, 2005 and 2006 elected world player of the year. De Nooijer is thus the first male hockey player who won the award three times.

He is married to the former German national player Philippa Suxdorf.
