Teunz

Teunz is a municipality in the Upper Palatinate district Schwandorf and a member of the administrative community Oberviechtach.

Geography

Geographical Location

Teunz is located in the Upper Palatinate region - North in the northeastern part of the district Schwandorf, directly on the B 22 between Weiden id Upper Palatinate and Cham. The municipality is part of the holiday region Teunz Oberviechtacher land and the natural park Upper Palatinate Forest. The village Teunz is 442 m above sea level. The highest point in the municipality is the Wildenstein in the homonymous resort 744 m above sea level.

" The view of the village Teunz is dominated by the parish church St. Lambertus and the confluence of the streams Murach and Faustnitz, in which the precipitation water of about 60 km ² is merged ."

History

The name Teunz

Due to the lack of written sources influences are demonstrated on the settlement only because of the toponymy .. In Altlandkreis Oberviechtach are the places Gleiritsch and Teunz Slavic origin and are thus among the oldest settlements in this area. The name comes from Teunz tync, which means small castle, or of tyn, the term for wall, fence or bund. The first mention

Since it can be demonstrated is a Slavic name for Teunz, the emergence is before the turn of the millennium. Written sources are missing. In 1280 the name appeared on Teinzen ..

In 1286 the oldest parish of the Diocese of Regensburg directories mentioned the parish Teunz in one. The preparation of the list was made at the instigation of Pope Gregory X, and later on the orders of Pope Honorius IV and should be used to finance the crusade. They carried every parish in estimating lists one, including Teunz, and assessed every clergyman to pay a specified amount.

The hammer being

In the Upper Palatinate, the Ruhr region of the Middle Ages, it was in the heyday of many iron works. 1387 is "the existence of two hammers in Teunz proven". They served the iron processing. Landgrave of Leuchtenberg

For a long time the Landgrave of Leuchtenberg feudal lords in Teunz. Heinrich, Eberhard Friedrich and Teynczer are occupied documented in the oldest lights Berger fief Book ( 1396/1399 ). A file at the State Archives Amberg from the year 1408 describes the " fief Teintz " as follows: " 1411 is Leb Tennzerr proven ," Albrecht Teyntzer 1414 is listed as a witness in a charter of the Monastery Kastl. Parish Church of St. Lambert

The Catholic parish church of St. Lambert was built in 1723. In 1774, the consecration took place. The present tower dates from 1834.
