The Teupitzer lake in southern Brandenburg has received its name from the nearby town on the banks Teupitz. He is the largest lake in the Teupitzer waters, a chain of lakes that extends from Teupitzer Lake in the west to the east Dahme. Administratively, it is located in the Office taverns and little land in the district of Dahme -Spreewald.

The Teupitzer waters ( TpG ) are a so-called other inland waterways of the covenant with a length of 18.30 km in the jurisdiction of the Water and Shipping Authority Berlin.

Description

The banks of the lake are characterized by Teupitzer forest landscapes. The lake itself is characterized by three islands. Through a peninsula on which is a part of the town of Schwerin, the lake is divided. The larger, southwestern part is the actual Teupitzer lake, while the smaller part is called in the northeast Lake Schwerin. About the 120 -meter-wide flow setting the lakes merge into each other and thus form a unit. The entire lake is 3 km long and max. 1.9 km wide, over the Mochgraben the Schwerin Lake in the north is connected to the Zemminsee. Parts of the southern and western shores are part of the nature reserve Small and Medium liver. The south bank is adjacent to the Nature Park Dahme- Heideseen.

Economic and tourist importance

On the lake tours are offered. Swimming, fishing, sailing, surfing and boating are allowed.
