Teutberga

Theutberga (* and † unsecured, at least 825-869 ) was a Frankish nobleman, daughter of Boso of Arles and wife of Lothair II.

About the early years Theutbergas nothing is known. It occurs in the light of history, as she married the Frankish King Lothair II in November 855. The marriage remained childless.

From 857 Lothar fought for a divorce. He fought three years before secular courts, from 860 he called the ecclesiastical jurisdiction. The divorce should allow to marry his concubine Waldrada Lothar. The political motivation is seen in the confrontation with Tommy's brother Theutbergas Hugbert. This won the divorce of political relevance, as different rulers of one party or another zuordneten.

At the Synod of Metz, the divorce was confirmed. In contrast, spoke Pope Nicholas I and Archbishop Hincmar of Reims and fought the divorce with excommunications. 865 was constrained to resume Lothar Theutberga. A petition for divorce by Theutbergas 867 was rejected.

The marriage ended by the death of Lothair 869 After Lothar's death, Theutberga moved to the Abbey of Sainte- Glossinde back to Metz, where he died as abbess of the monastery.
