Tex Ritter

Tex Ritter ( born January 12, 1905 in Murvaul, Texas as Woodward Maurice Ritter, † January 2, 1974 in Nashville, Tennessee ) was an American country singer and actor.

Life

Tex Ritter grew up as the youngest of six children on a ranch in Beaumont. He was a very good student, took singing lessons and learned several instruments. His career goal was a lawyer, but he abandoned his studies after a short time to be in New York to pursue an acting career. In 1931, he received a role in the Broadway musical Green Grow The Lilacs. He played a cowboy and contributed several songs before. He also hosted several cowboy broadcasts on the radio. Again, he had the opportunity to own musical performances.

In 1941 he married actress Dorothy Fay. Their son John Ritter was a well-known film and television actor. Tex Ritter died on January 2, 1974 in Nashville of a heart attack. His grandson, Jason Ritter is also an actor.
