Texas Lightning

Texas Lightning is a country band from Hamburg. The five members interpret alongside cover versions of classic country hits popular pop songs such as Like a Virgin ( Madonna), Man in the Mirror (Michael Jackson) or Ticket to Ride ( The Beatles ) in country style, and occasionally his own compositions.

Band biography

The band was founded in 1996 by Jon Flemming Olsen. For the first appearance came only on 23 December 2000 in Hamburg Knust, the band's name at the time was still Texas Lightning & The Rodeo Rockets. After several concerts and two self-produced CDs, musicians participated in the 2004 first Country Music Award and won.

Two of the band members got out of the band and Jon Flemming Olsen ( " The Flame " ), known as takeaways Ingo owner of the television program Dittsche (WDR), Olli Dittrich aka " Ringo Fire", was put as a drummer. The Australian Jane Comerford became the new singer. In addition, are still Markus " Fast Finger " and Uwe Schmidt " Friendly " Frenzel members of the group.

On 22 August 2005, the first album of the band Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch ... appeared with country cover versions of popular rock and pop titles. As a single Like a Virgin was disengaged. The group was in September / October 2005 on tour in Germany.

Texas Lightning sat down on 9 March 2006 against Thomas Anders and Vicky Leandros at the German preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest 2006 and represented Germany on 20 May 2006 in Athens at the finale. For their competition candidacy they took for the first time ( music and lyrics by Jane Comerford No No Never ) to a self-penned country song, which took several weeks number one in the German single charts. In deciding the contest they finished 15th place at 24 participants.

In September, they released the single I Promise and a new edition in October of the old album titled Meanwhile, Back at the Golden Ranch ... with six new songs and a bonus DVD.

Although Texas Lightning in November 2008 announced the end of their collaboration, the new album Western Bound was released on April 17, 2009 - a kind of soundtrack to the children's film WineToons - The Legend of the Treasure of Silver Lake - and then the band in cooperation with the Babelsberg Film Orchestra new songs has received. As a single Seven Ways to Heaven was coupled, in addition, a video was made.

On 28 August 2009 Texas Lightning announced that the founding member Jon Flemming Olsen will leave the band and is replaced by Malte Pittner Deichkind.

Name

The former band leader Jon Flemming Olsen has appeared on several television talk shows explaining the name of the band. According to him, the formation was already the name Texas Lightning, when she was informed by the American actor Larry Hagman about the meaning of this term. Accordingly, Texas Lightning is in the U.S. slang an ironic name for an arson with the goal of insurance fraud, in German as " warm " remediation, " firing " or as a " hot tear " known.

The name of the album Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch ... refers to a commonly used phrase in the United States, with which one initiates a change of subject, and comes originally the horse operas (cheap TV Western from the 1950s ).
