Teymur Mammadov

Teymur Məmmədov ( born January 11, 1993) is an Azerbaijani amateur boxer in the heavyweight ( 81-91 kg). He was 2011 European Champion and Vice World Champion and bronze medalist of the 2012 Olympic Games and the World Cup 2013.

Boxing career

The 1.96 -meter -training in Baku Məmmədov in 2010 Azerbaijani champion in the light heavyweight division. At the 39th European Championships in June 2011 in Ankara, he won the gold medal in the heavyweight division. Only in the final, he defeated the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk 15:25 on points and thus increased with the silver medal.

Thus he received a place at the 30th Summer Olympic Games 2012 in London. He won in the first round just against the Australians Jai Opetaia 12:11 and moved into the quarterfinals, where he sat down by auxiliary scoring 19:19 against the White Russians Siarhei Karneyeu and thus moved into the semi-finals, where he, however, the Italian Clemente Russo 13 15 subject and thus won the Olympic bronze medal. At the 40th European Championships in June 2013 in Minsk, he reached the finals of the heavyweight. After victorious battles against Marko Calic, Croatia, Tommy McCarthy, Ireland, and Denys Pojazyka, Ukraine, he left only in the final against Alexei Egorov from Russia.

At the 17th World Championships in October 2013 in Almaty, he defeated Efetobor Apochi from Nigeria, Manpreet Singh from India and Erislandy Savón from Cuba, before he was defeated in the semi-final against Italian Clemente Russo and retired with the bronze medal.
