Teymuraz Gabashvili

Beisikowitsch Teimuraz Gabashvili (Russian Теймураз Бейсикович Габашвили, georgian თეიმურაზ გაბაშვილი, Teimuraz Gabashvili; born 23 May 1985 in Tbilisi, Georgian SSR ) is a Russian- Georgian tennis player.

Life

Gabashvili was born in Georgia, moved into the age of ten with his family to Moscow. He was, among other things as a substitute in the squad of the Russian Davis Cup team for the final match in 2007 against the United States.

Career

From 2001 to 2003 Gabashvili played only at Future tournaments for junior players. In 2002, he was able to celebrate his first tournament victory in a double, a year later, he won five competitions, including four individual titles and one doubles title.

In 2004 he made ​​his debut on the ATP Tour and has also won his first Challenger tournament in Tolyatti. Since then, he was several times in Challenger finals, of which he won a few. In July 2006, he was able for the first time, albeit only place for two weeks, among the top 100 in the world rankings. In the spring of 2007 he came again into the top 100 and held that position for over seven months.

In summer 2007, he reached the doubles competition in Indianapolis for the first time a final on the ATP Tour, but lost to Ivo Karlović the double Juan Martín del Potro and Travis Parrott.
