The Tesa (Russian Теза ) is a 192 km long left tributary of the Klyazma in the European part of Russia.

Course

The Tesa rises in the northern Ivanovo, near the settlement Solotilowo. The source is only 12 km south of the Volga located. Instead of this, however zuzufließen directly, the flow first turns south. In the upper reaches of the river is an average of six to seven meters wide and flows strongly meandering in a 200-700 m wide floodplain, the bank height varies from eight to ten meters.

After the confluence of the parsha, the width of Tesa increased to around 20 m. You will continue to flow in predominantly southern directions and finally reaches Shuja. From here the river is navigable. After the confluence of the Ljulech the Tesa turns to the east. The now 30-50 m wide river is controlled here by five locks. The height of the embankment is 20-25 m, 40-50 m in some places.

At the village Cholui the Tesa turns again to the south. The width of the floodplain increases here at five to six kilometers. A little later the Tesa reached the Klyazma and opens directly on the border with Vladimir Oblast from the left in this.

Hydrology and use

The Tesa is average by the end of November / beginning of December frozen. The breaking of the ice in April falls in the period of the annual spring floods, which last until May. The mainly fed by snow melt water flow is 87 km from Shuya navigable, and popular with boaters, hikers.
