Tezze sul Brenta

Tezze sul Brenta is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 12,767 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Vicenza in the Veneto region. The municipality is situated on the eastern bank of the Brenta about 20 km northeast of Vicenza and about 9 km southwest of Bassano del Grappa. Tezze sul Brenta is immediately adjacent to the province of Padua. To the north are Cartigliano and Rosà, in the east Rossano, in the south Cittadella (Padova) and in the west the rivers Brenta and Cartigliano.

The municipality is located on alluvium of the Brenta. Therefore, the height above sea level varies only slightly and is between 70 and 72 m. The lowest point of 65 m located on the bridge to Friola because the landscape descends to the river valley.

History

The first mention of Tezze whose name dates back to a Venetian word, it means barn ( fieno = hay). For the municipality of the City 1805 by a decree of Napoleon. In many cases, farmers fled before feuds of the feudal lords and before marauding soldiery in the hard to reach area that was frequently affected by floods.

1405 the area came to the Republic of Venice, and the settlement was the Argo slammed Bassanese. To then prevalent pastoralism came the cultivation of wheat and wine, and the breeding of silkworms. The end of the Republic in 1797 and the multiple alternating between French and Austrian domination initially prevented the rise of an independent municipality. The Agro Bassanese was divided in 1805 by a decree of Napoleon and it emerged the municipalities Cassola, Rosà and Tezze.

1865 had the place with its 304 families 1,580 inhabitants. From 1870 to 1876, from 1887 to 1892 was Smania Gaetano Mayor ( syndic ), 1926 appointed the fascists first time Podestà, since 2009, the office of syndic Lake Valerio held.

From 1974 to 2003, the galvanic company Tricom in the village was established, the significant ground surfaces contaminated with chromium (Cr (VI). Likewise affected place in the Citadel, the abstraction of drinking water from local wells was prohibited.
