TFX (Turkey)

TFX designates a defense project for a fighter aircraft of the fifth generation, which is to be developed in the years of Turkish Aerospace Industries ( TAI ) for the Turkish Air Force. This is the first domestic jet fighter development in Turkey.

Turkey's decision to develop its own fighter jet fell in December 2010. The contract for a feasibility study and for the elaboration of a basic concept for the development of a domestic Turkish training and fighter jets TAI has been issued by the Turkish Ministry of Defence in August 2011. In November 2011 it was announced that a 40-member planning group has begun a feasibility study. It is planned to complete this study in early 2013. By 2023, the aircraft delivery is to take place.

The Euro Fighter consortium predicts the joint development of a new generation of fighter jets by Turkey and Brazil in their market forecasts for the period until 2025.
