Tha Bo District

Geography

The Nong Khai province is located about 615 kilometers northeast of Bangkok along the Mekong River, which is here the border to Laos.

Amphoe Tha Bo borders the following counties ( from east clockwise ) to the Amphoe Mueang Nong Khai and Sakhrai in the province of Nong Khai, at Amphoe Ban Phue Udon Thani province, as well as to the Amphoe Pho Tak and Si Chiang Mai again in Nong Khai province. To the northeast lies on the opposite bank of the Mekong, Vientiane Prefecture Laos.

History

The history of the district dates back to Mueang Tha Bo, which was founded in 1897. The first Governor ( Chao Mueang ) was Phra Kupradit Padi ( พระ กุ ประดิษฐ์ บ ดี ).

Management

Amphoe Tha Bo is divided into ten municipalities ( tambon), which in turn in 98 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There is a city ( Mueang thesaban ) in the district:

  • Tha Bo ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง ท่าบ่อ ), consisting of parts of the tambon Tha Bo and Nam Mong,

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Phon Sa ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล โพน สา ), consisting of parts of the tambon Phon Sa,
  • Ban Thon ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้าน ถ่อ น ), consisting of the whole tambon Ban Thon.

In addition, there are nine " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
