Tha Maka District

Amphoe Tha Maka ( Thai อำเภอ ท่ามะกา ) is the southeasternmost district ( Amphoe ) of Kanchanaburi province. The Kanchanaburi province is located in the western part of central Thailand, capital of the county about 85 km north- west of Bangkok.

Geography

The neighboring districts are (from west clockwise): Amphoe Tha Muang which, Phanom Thuan province Kanchanaburi, Amphoe Song Phi Nong province of Suphanburi, Amphoe Kamphaeng Saen of Nakhon Pathom Province and Amphoe Ban Pong Ratchaburi Province.

The main water resource is the Maenam Mae Klong ( Mae Klong River ).

History

Tha Maka was originally part of the province of Ratchaburi. At that time it was called Lat Bua Khao ( ลาด บัวขาว ). In 1903 it was renamed Phra Thaen ( พระแท่น ), again in 1917 its present name Tha Maka. In 1937, the District Kanchanaburi Province was assigned Tambon Lat Bua Khao this was renamed in Ban Pong and remained in Ratchaburi.

Attractions

The Wat Phra Thaen Dong rank, about 10 km northeast of Tha Ruea, is famous for the rock camp, said to have died on the Buddha and ascended to Nirvana.

Management

The circle is divided into 17 subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 153 villages ( Muban ).

Tha Phra Ruea Then ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง ท่าเรือ พระแท่น ) has a city - state ( thesaban Mueang ) and consists of the whole tambon Tha Ruea and parts of Takhram En

There are five small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district.

  • Suk Kae ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ลูก แก ) consists of parts of the tambon Don Khamin,
  • Tha Maka ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่ามะกา ) consists of parts of the tambon Tha Maka,
  • Tha Mai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่า ไม้ ) consists of the whole tambon Tha Mai,
  • Phra Thaen ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล พระแท่น ) consists of parts of the tambon Phra Thaen,
  • Wai Niao ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หวาย เหนียว ) consists of parts of the Tambon Wai Niao.

There are also 15 " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
