Thalgau

The market town of Thalgau located in Austria in Salzburg Flachgau, corresponding to the political district of Salzburg, on the border with Upper Austria and has 5627 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

Thalgau is located in the province of Salzburg, 18 km east of the provincial capital, and is also referred to as the "gateway to the Salzkammergut ". The community is a central location in the eastern Flachgau and seat of the judicial district Thalgau. The municipality has a size of 48.2 square kilometers.

History

The discovery of the remains of a Roman villa under construction in 1953 is facing a settlement in the 2nd century. First documentary mention of the place and the church can be traced to the early 8th century. The name seems Talgov 788 for the first time on the Arno niche goods directory. Coat of arms
