Thanaleng Railway Station

The Thanaleng station ( also Dongphosy Station ) is a terminal station in the village Dongphosy in the Prefecture Vientiane.

Geographical Location

The station is located in the village of Dongphosy, Hadxaifong district, about 20 km east of Vientiane, capital of Laos. But he was named after the border town Thanaleng. It is located about 4 km north of the border between Laos and Thailand, which forms the Mekong and the crosses the rail line Nong Khai - Thanaleng here at the First Thai - Lao Friendship Bridge.

History

On 20 March 2004 an agreement between the Thai and Lao government to extend the East line of the Thai State Railway of Nong Khai was closed after Thanalaeng, which also included the construction of the station. The Thanaleng station currently forms the operational end point of coming from Thailand Nong Khai - Vientiane railway line. Thanaleng is currently the only station on Laotian territory. Here also the Lao immigration control takes place.
