The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins is an American animated short film directed by George Pal from the year 1943.
Action
The king visited his kingdom. On his instruction, every subject has to pull the hat off to him. When the king at the young Bartholomew Cubbins passes, but the reserves on his hat. The king asks him to pull the hat and Bartholomew Cubbins pulls the pointy hat, but now comes a new hat to light. He tries again, but always appears a new hat of different type and shape. Soon Bartholomew Cubbins is surrounded by hats that he has fallen for the king, but he still wears a hat.
The king gives orders to arrest Bartholomew Cubbins. He is brought to the castle, where further attempts are made to make Bartholomew Cubbins hatless. As well as these attempts fail, the king wants to put to death the young man. However, the law requires that the addition directional end on the scaffold must not wear any hat. The king finally gives up. For a magnificent hat he offers Bartholomew Cubbins on his royal crown. Well Bartholomew Cubbins can solve the hat from his head and replace it with the crown. With the royal crown Bartholomew Cubbins is released into the wild, and thence depart.
Production
The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins is based on the eponymous story by Dr. Seuss, which was published in the German-speaking countries under the title The 500 Hats of Barthel lion shoot. George Pal realized the story as a puppet in stop-motion, however, changed this aspect of the literary text. Bartholomew Cubbins ' Hats are always identical in the template and are always consuming only 400 hats. In Pal, however, change the hats in shape and color from the beginning. The end Pal solved differently than the original. The film was released on 30 April 1943 as part of the Madcap Models Theatrical Cartoon Series or the number Puppetoon and was distributed by Paramount Pictures.
Awards
The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins 1944 for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film " nomination, but could not prevail against Tom plays pyrotechnician.
