The Abyssinians

The Abyssinians are a Jamaican reggae and dub band with three members. You play bass, drums and singing. On some of their albums have backing singers and some musical guests.

The trio was originally founded by Bernard Collins, Donald Manning and Linford Manning in 1969.

Her most famous songs are Satta Massagana and Y Mas Gan, both partly in an ancient Ethiopian language, Amharic. For Rastafarians, this is a sacred language, as they Haile Selassie, the last emperor of Ethiopia worship the Messiah.

Another important song of the band 's Declaration of Rights, whose instrumental version (the riddim ) was recycled by countless roots reggae artist many times.

Linford Manning is no longer a member of the group because he has converted to Christianity and Jesus Christ instead of Haile Selassie adopted as the Messiah.

The band has nothing to do with The Ethiopians, though the band names are synonyms.
