The Adventurer (film)

The Adventurer (aka The Adventurer ) is an American comedy film from 1917, directed the Charlie Chaplin for the Mutual Film Corporation.

Action

Charlie Chaplin plays a convict who has managed to escape from prison. The prison guard takes up the chase. In his escape, he saves a young woman and her mother from drowning. He is invited by the ladies home. A celebration is held in honor of the hero. The girl's boyfriend wants to get rid of Charlie. In the newspaper an article about Charlie's prowess with his photo, which brings the guards back on its track appears.

Reviews

Iain Scott of the Portal " The One -Line Review" described the short film as resourceful poor material, fairly entertaining, boring ending in some places.

Background

The film is the last of twelve short comedies that Charles Chaplin from 1916 to 1917 for the Mutual Film Corporation turned.

The role of the family chauffeur occupied Chaplin with Toraichi Kono (高 野 虎 市), his own chauffeur, secretary and bodyguard.

For Eric Campbell, it was the last film in which he starred. Chaplin, who signed a new contract with First National, Campbell planned as a villain in his next film projects. But Campbell died in December 1917 at the injuries he had in a car accident he had caused drunk drawn.
