The Advocate

The Advocate is the leading LGBT magazine in the United States. It is published every two weeks.

The Advocate was first founded in 1967 in Los Angeles as a local magazine under its former name of The Los Angeles Advocate. In 1969 she was renamed The Advocate and the nationwide distribution was recorded. In 1975, the nationwide circulation was 60,000 copies. The journal is the oldest continuously published gay publication in the United States. In 2005, the magazine was sold by the company LPI Media to the company PlanetOut. In 2008 it was sold by the latter to Regent Media.

The daily maintained the magazine's website contains some 30 percent of the content of the paper edition of the magazine.
