The Amboy Dukes

The Amboy Dukes were an American rock band from Detroit, Michigan, who had enjoyed some successes in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Her biggest hit was Journey to the Center of the Mind (1968).

The name of the band was the historic street gang (see Amboy Dukes (band ) ) borrowed, which in turn was after a street in Brooklyn, New York, named. The original core of the band consisted of John Drake ( vocals), Steve Farmer (rhythm guitar) and Ted Nugent ( lead guitar ); the Rest of cast often changed. 1969 Rusty Day was the new vocalist.

The debut album was released in 1967 with Bob Shad's Mainstream label; the album Journey to the Center of the Mind (1968 ) was the most successful of the band. The single of the same reached number 16 on the Billboard charts. Album and single were typical examples of the acid rock; the album cover showed 50 different utensils for smoking marijuana.
