The Ark (band)

The Ark was a Swedish rock band that was founded in Timberjack near Växjö by Lars " Leari " Ljungberg, Mikael Jepson, Martin Olsson and Ola Svensson 1991. The pastor's son Ola ( of 1996 his family name to Salo changed, resulting in a palindrome together with the name ) believed at the time that the Apocalypse is near and it therefore would be the time to save as many people as possible to try. The best means to do this is in his assessment of an ark, comes the band's name.

Band History

The first recording of the band comes from the August / September 1991 with the song "The Lamb ". The band was the whole time, but instead of drummer Martin Olsson Martin came Rosengardten briefly in its place. The next major event was the import of a single plate with four songs ranging from 1995 and 1996. The two most recent band members were then 17 years old. The single was however quite heavily criticized and was not a great success, which is why the band then seriously considered to dissolve. However, the band got new hope through the neuhinzugekommenen guitarist Martin Axén as well as new contacts. Shortly after, she got a new record deal, whereupon Martin Rosengardten left the band and was replaced by Sylvester Schlegel. In the spring of 2000, the single was released "Let your body decide ". The breakthrough came with the next single " It takes a fool To Remain sane" and since then the success grew steadily. The Ark is now one of the biggest bands in Sweden. She has a loyal fan base that follows behind her across the country and it has also achieved success in Germany and Italy. In spring 2005, their discs were also released in the United States.

On March 10, 2007 The Ark won with the title "The Worrying Kind" the final of Melodifestivalen and thus represented Sweden on 12 May 2007 at the Euro Vision Song Contest in Helsinki, where they finished 18th place.

On 8 December 2010 The Ark announced that they want to dissolve in the summer of 2011. They played their last concert in Stockholm Gröna Lund.
