The Ashes

The Ashes is a taking place twice in four years cricket international match between Australia and England. It usually consists of five tests and is alternately held first in the local summer in the two countries. The Ashes are generally regarded as the most traditional and important debate in cricket.

Regular Test match between Australia and England have been held since 1877. The Ashes legend dates back to the ninth meeting of the two countries in 1882 at London's Oval. It was their first home defeat of England in an already won game and believed one of the most closely -fought cricket tests ever.

Among other things, the Sporting Times in a commentary published an obituary on English cricket, which states:

The term "Ashes " was recorded immediately, and already taking place in Australia in the same winter Test series in England was under the motto "win back the Ashes ." This series was the captain of the England team, Ivo Bligh, given an urn in allusion to the events of the previous summer. The urn actually contains ash, however, is still unclear what was burned. It is assumed that it is the remains of a ball, a wicket or a lady's veil. The urn was never the trophy of the Ashes, but is very well known as an icon. They remained in the possession of Bligh and was donated after his death by his widow, the Marylebone Cricket Club, where she has since been issued.

After a long dry spell England won the 2005 Ashes for the first time since 1987, but from 2006 to 2007 in order to lose again after all five games of the series had gone to Australia. In 2009, England bring the Ashes in a highly competitive series back to England 2010-11 for the first time and win both the series in Australia for 24 years as well as defend the Ashes.

Australia won so far 31 Ashes series, four times you could defend by draw the Ashes, England won in 31 series, once handed them a draw. In the single - test Australia leads by 123 to 103 with 89 draws.
