The Ballad of John and Yoko (German: , The Ballad of John and Yoko ') is a song by British rock band The Beatles. The piece was written solely by John Lennon, even if it - has been assigned the copyright of Lennon / McCartney - as usual to Beatles times. The song was released in Europe in May 1969 together with the Harrison composition Old Brown Shoe as a single.
Formation
John Lennon processed the difficulties with the press and authorities, he had when he wanted to marry Yoko Ono in this song. Also in the text are the now famous " bed-in " in Amsterdam and the " bag-in " quotes in Vienna, which had Lennon and Ono made after their wedding in the spring of 1969.
Recording
When recording of the piece on 14 April 1969 in London's Abbey Road Studios are just two of the four Beatles were involved, John Lennon and Paul McCartney. George Harrison and Ringo Starr was out of town during the filming for the movie The Magic Christian. Lennon played rhythm and lead guitar and sang, while McCartney the second voice and all the rest of the instruments took over, so bass, piano, maracas and drums.

The single was the 17th and last number-one hit of the Beatles in the UK. In the U.S. top ten, he reached # 8
