The Beano

The Beano is a British comic magazine for children. It appears D.C. in publishing since 1938 Thomson & Co. Ltd.. in the UK and Ireland.

This weekly magazine consists of a number of comic strips; each of the many main characters ( Beano stars ) usually gets one or two pages reserved for themselves and their experiences. The most popular ( and longest appearing in the Beano ) heads are Dennis the Menace and his dog Gnasher who make a joke of it, parents, teachers, postmen and " softies " ( male peers who behave particularly effeminate ) to harass and for exasperate. But the Bash Street Kids, Minnie the Minx and Roger the Dodger have been here for years. Most stories are set in Beanotown, sometimes also the way the main characters tick. Occasionally, bubbles of imaginary readers of the comic or the corresponding cartoon character talks to the readers appear. Beano comics also appear in special issues and in book form.
