The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963 is a compilation album by the British band The Beatles, released on December 17, 2013 exclusively at iTunes. It is the second Beatles album, the virtual - has been released and contains 59 unreleased recordings of the band from 1963 - no longer on a physical disk.

Background

The release of the album has copyright reasons. Under European copyright the copyright of musical works shall expire 70 years after its publication. The copyright of unpublished works but the indicator is already 50 years after their creation. All tracks on the album emerged in 1963 and were previously unpublished, so that by 1 January 2014 their copyright would have expired. To prevent this, the works have been published in order to extend their copyright on the past 70 years.

Content

The album contains 15 studio recordings, two demo recordings and 42 recordings, which grossed the Beatles for the BBC. In the studio recordings are discarded takes of songs There's a Place, Do You Want to Know a Secret, A Taste of Honey, I Saw Her Standing There, Misery, From Me to You, Thank You Girl, Hold Me Tight, One After 909 and Money ( That's What I Want). The demo recordings of The Beatles were later published by other artists: Bad to Me by Billy J. Kramer & the Dakotas, and I'm in Love by The Four Most. All songs on the album were previously already available on various bootlegs.

Publication

The Beatles bootleg recordings appeared in 1963 on December 17, 2013 exclusively as a digital music download exclusively on iTunes. The publication was preceded by no announcement or advertising; also the record company did not comment on the release. A CD release did not take place.
