The Black Stallion (film)

The Black Stallion (Original Title: The Black Stallion) is an American movie from 1979 with Kelly Reno in the lead role. It is based on the YA flash the black stallion of the U.S. author Walter Farley.

Action

Alec Ramsay, a twelve- year-old U.S. citizen, and a wild black Arabian stallion are the only survivors of a shipwreck. You are stranded on a deserted, barren island somewhere far off the Portuguese coast. During their struggle for survival in the inhospitable island, a deep friendship between man and beast arises. After their rescue, Alec takes the " blacks", as he calls the horse, with the former New York suburb of Flushing, where he lives with his mother. Alec learns the former jockey Henry Dailey know which recognizes the potential of the two and she begins to train. Climax of the film is the breathtaking century race between " blacks" and the two fastest race horses in the United States.

Background

The film is based on the novel Lightning the Black Stallion by Walter Farley, although there are some deviations in the plot. So travel in the book Alec alone by ship from India to New York, while he is traveling in the film with his father, then one of the victims of the shipwreck. On the whole the film, however, tried to remain as original factory and capture with very evocative images, the time in which the book was written and the story is set ( 1940s ).

Continuations

Two years after the release of the first film, created in 1981, the sequel The Black Stallion Returns. The government took over Robert Dalva, who has worked as an editor on the first part. In the main role was to see again Kelly Reno. In 2003 was created with The Black Stallion ... how it all began a kind of prequel. In addition, a television series called Black, the black lightning was produced from 1990 to 1993.
