The Buckinghams

The Buckinghams was an American rock group of the 1960s.

The band was founded in Chicago / Illinois. In 1966, she received a first recording contract with the small label "USA Records ", and already the first single Kind Of A Drag became the number - one hit in the United States.

After the band to Columbia Records, a major label and joined James William Guercio got as a songwriter and producer. In the course of one year from March 1967 to February 1968 enter the Buckinghams four more Top 20 hits: Do not You Care reached No. 6 Mercy, Mercy, Mercy Platz 5, Hey Baby ( They're Playing Our Song ) Rank 12 Susan and reached 11th place in early 1968, although Guercio decreed as a member of Frank Zappa's band The Mothers ( a precursor of what became known later the Mothers of Invention ) have some experience and contacts that remained of further success. Only their single Back In Love Again 1968 could once again reach a place 57 in the pop charts.

The five from 1967 to 1969, published by the Buckinghams albums could all place in the album charts, albeit only in the lower regions. 1967 reached Kind Of A Drag ( ranked # 109) and Time And Changes ( # 58) placements in the charts in 1968 Portraits (# 53) and In One Ear And Gone Tomorrow ( # 161 ), 1969 Sampler The Buckinghams ' Greatest Hits (# 73).

The group disappeared from the scene, later comeback attempts were unsuccessful. 1973 took Dennis Tufano and Carl Giamarese as a duo plates. Martin Grebb founded the band " The Fabulous Rhinestones ".
