The Canadian Press

The Canadian Press ( CP ) and La Presse Canadienne (French: PC ) is the largest National News Agency of Canada. It is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario and employs over 250 full-time employees and several freelance journalists. The agency was founded in 1917 with the aim to make daily newspapers in Canada were able to exchange messages. The Agency has not since its founding a non-profit association of several newspaper publishers. Mid-2010 were announced to transform the agency into an independent private company plans.

On 26 November 2010, the shareholders, the Torstar Corporation, The Globe and Mail and Square Victoria Communications Group, announced that they rearranged the Agency in the Canadian Press Enterprises Inc. and have passed to this the operating businesses.
