The Cave is a system developed by Ron Gilbert and Double Fine Productions in 2013 published point-and- click adventure.

Contents and action

The Cave is reminiscent of the also developed by Ron Gilbert classic games Maniac Mansion. The actual main character in The Cave is the cave itself in the one descends with three available from the seven games figures. You can choose between a knight Hillybilly, a scientist, a time traveler, an adventuress, twins and a monk. Each of the game characters has their own skills, which influence the solution of the game and allow access to certain, accessible only for this figure levels.

Reception

The Cave was quite different, but in total rated by critics rather positive. The black humor, the design of the characters and the not-too- difficult puzzles was common, as for example, in the Critique of c't, praised, whereas the technical implementation and long-term fun were more likely rated as average.
