The Clean

The Clean is a New Zealand post-punk band that was founded in Dunedin in 1978 by drummer Hamish Kilgour and the guitarist David Kilgour and Peter Gutteridge.

History

After attempts to establish itself in Auckland, the band returned to Dunedin and published in 1981, the single Tally Ho! reached on Flying Nun Records, the number 19 in the charts. In the same year the EP Boodle Boodle Boodle, which came in at number 4 on the charts followed. In 1982, she released the EP Great Sounds Great. After that, the band was decommissioned. In 1983, the brothers Kilgour brought under the name of The Great Unwashed out the album Clean Out of Our Minds, was folky than the punky sound of The Clean. In 1984, an EP back together with Peter Gutteridge. After this band broke up. The Clean were in the 1980s, a typical representative of the Dunedin Sound, which was distributed by the New Zealand label Flying Nun Records in the world.

In 1988, the band members came for two concerts in London together and published with the recorded material while a live album. After touring the album Vehicle followed in 1990, with more pop sounds than on previous releases. After a new resolution they came together again in 1994 and brought the albums Modern Rock (1995 ), Unknown Country (1996) and Getaway ( 2001). Also in 2001, the live album Slush Found was published and in 2003 and 2008, a live album ever came out. Published in 2009 The Clean Mister Pop Album.
