The Contours
The Contours was an American singing group, which was founded in Detroit in 1958.
The group, which had initially started as a quartet, was recommended by Jackie Wilson the manager of record company Motown Records. 1961 received the Contours there a record deal. The first released single Whole Lotta Woman was a flop.
Then Berry Gordy Jr. wrote, the founder and manager of Motown, the song Do You Love Me for the formation - it was a million seller. In 1963 the English band Brian Poole & The Tremeloes this item also, and had thus in a UK number -one hit.
Do You Love Me remained the only major success for the Contours. The song was later included in the " list of 500 songs that have the most impact on Rock and Roll " of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Furthermore, in 1987 he used in the soundtrack to Dirty Dancing.
