The family with the reverse jet propulsion (逆 喷射 家族) is a Japanese film directed by Sogo Ishii in 1984, which was produced within a few weeks with a budget of only 300,000 euros.

Action

The film first shows a normal Japanese family. This is followed by quarrels and conflicts, then a continually -increasing escalation of the situation and the events within the house that contains elements of extreme catastrophe theory, tragedy and comedy up to surreal insanity.

Explanation of the title

Since a pilot in a fit of madness in the air turned on the reverse thrust and caused a crash, the "reverse jet propulsion " in Japan is a household word for sudden madness with disastrous consequences.
