The cream

The Cream was in the 1980s by Victor Conte, the founder of Burlingame Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative, marketed mixture of synthetic testosterone and epitestosterone. It was used as a masking material for steroids.

In the early 1980s featured Manfred Donike and Johann Zimmermann of the Institute of Biochemistry at the Sports University in Cologne found that synthetic testosterone in the human body is degraded more slowly than the body's own testosterone to epitestosterone the degradation product. The use of synthetic testosterone, therefore, manifests itself in a greatly increased ratio of testosterone / epitestosterone in the body. The testosterone / epitestosterone ratio, which is abbreviated as T / E ratio, is reviewed in international competitions since 1982 and is in a healthy person is about 1:1. To account for individual variations suggested Donike and carpenter before a limit of 6:1.

The additional intake of The Cream enabled athletes to correct their T / E ratio to a value below the limit, so they were not conspicuous in a doping test.
