At night, when the corpses cry ( Original title: The Devil's Rain) is a horror film made in 1975 by director Robert Fuest.
Action
Mark Preston is waiting with his mother in a stormy night at his father Steve. When he arrives out of the rain, he has empty eye sockets and his face seems to melt away. He stammered something about a book by Corbis and Red Stone, then his whole body melts like wax before the eyes of Mark and his mother. The two can not believe what they have seen, and doubt now whether that was really the father. Holds Shortly afterwards the car of his father at the door, Mark runs out and sees a voodoo doll on the steering wheel that resembles his mother. In the house his mother has now been kidnapped. Mark believes that Jonathan Corbis behind it, and decides this visit in Red Stone, an abandoned ghost town. Corbis is the mysterious leader of a sect of Satan, the Prestons pressured to hand him a book, which is for about 300 years in the family. In the book there are all the names of the sect, who have signed it with their blood, that they have bequeathed her soul to the devil. Mark travels to the abandoned ghost town and meets actually on Corbis. Later, he is captured by Corbis and his followers.
Tom Preston and Julie Preston now set out to search for the missing parents. When they arrive in the ghost town, a stranger drives in her father's car to her and then takes refuge in a house. You follow him and as Tom holds him, Julie sees in its hollow eyes back to the year 1680: Aaronessa, the wife of Martin Fyffe ( an ancestor of Mark Preston ) has stolen the book and reveal the Satan trailers. Jonathan Corbis is immediately led to the stake, where this Martin Fyffe and his descendants cursed for treason. Contrary to the assurances that nothing would happen to them, also end Fyffe and his wife at the stake.
In the meantime, finds Mark in a satanic ritual again, in the Corbis becomes a demon with ram's horns. After the ceremony, Mark also has just empty eye sockets and has become one of them.
Julie moves back and is kidnapped by the cult, while Tom along with Dr. Sam Richards explores the ghost town. In a church they find a vessel in which seemingly souls are trapped and that the "water of Satan " (originally: devil 's rain ) contains. After Mark has destroyed the vessel, the water of Satan for evil rain that melts every pendant is like wax. Tom takes the rescued Julie in the arm, and shortly afterwards turned this into Corbis.
Background
- John Travolta, who starred previously only in television productions, here is his feature film debut. The brief appearance of his character remains nameless in the film, but in the credits Danny.
- Anton Szandor LaVey, founder of the Church of Satan, is indicated as a "technical advisor " of the film and has a small guest role as High Priest.
- In the opening sections of paintings by Hieronymus Bosch are shown.
- Theatrical release in the United States was in July 1975, in 1978 a revival took place. In Germany the film was released on 27 April 1979 under the title At night, when the bodies scream in the cinema, and later was given the title in night, changed when the zombies scream. On videotape, he was also under the title Devil's Rain - published Cursed for all eternity.
