The Duck Family (Disney)

The Ducks (English for ducks) are a fictional family who lives in the fictional town of Duckburg and was later developed by the Disney animation studios and comic artists from Disney. In the early phase of the comics was especially Al Taliaferro, Carl Barks later formative. In addition to numerous comics in different rows (eg, laid in Germany Merry Paperback ) and short films, it was also his own TV series, Duck Tales, but which is limited to a selection of figures and in which also figures occur that are not otherwise can be used ( for example, Frieda ). The best known family members, and even those with the most comic performances are Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck, and Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck.

Relationship

The most common genealogy of the Ducks is largely based on the stories of Carl Barks and Don Rosa. Both Barks and Rosa, who has stories by Barks to the Foundation, have shown their own slightly different relationships. In addition, various other published (eg by brute Gans, William Van Horn and other signatories ). However, in some basics, they agree: The family originates, at least as regards the descendants of Scrooge McDuck, from Scotland. By Rosa was also a kinship to Emil Drake, the founder of Duckburg, was introduced. According to him, the descendants of Barks Scrooge McDuck go back on the Scottish Clan McDuck, who resided on the Duck burgh in the Scottish Highlands. However, the data on the individual figures differ in the translation partly materially from those described in the English-language comics and they differ in some cases significantly between signatories. So figures are added and changed life dates, places and events as needed. The following figures are therefore not to be regarded as binding for all signatories.

The oldest representatives of McDucks can bring in no certain genealogical order, they therefore appear chronologically. The supplementary information is taken from the comics by Barks and Rosa.

Differences between German and American editions

Some confusion often makes the fact that the first translator of the Barks stories Erika Fuchs for almost all figures the last name Duck Duck used and many translators and European writers still do this. In contrast, several different last names are in the U.S. (especially from Don Rosa according to a case before it started by Barks for his private use family relationships ) are used, McDuck for Scrooge as the last male representative of the clan, Coot for "Grandma " Dorette and Degenhart ( Donald's father) who belong to another family there and the simple Duck derived for not " entitled to inherit ", ie not directly from a male descendant of McDuck McDuck clan. In European stories Dagobert and "Grandma " are, however, often according to the nomenclature shown as a pair of siblings, which has extremely complicated family relationships with many additional multiple affinities result.

Error

In the Duck comics it always came back to the content and chronological inconsistencies. For example, in Uncle Scrooge - His life, his billions claims that his uncle Scrooge Diethelm up to the age of 13 did not know, because it emigrated long before Scrooge's birth. Elsewhere, however, one sees in a panel a family photo, the Diethelm, Jacob and Dietbert shows along with Dankrade and the children Dagobert, Mathilda and Dortel.
